Clubs - The Cabrera Slot Car Club
The Cabrera Slot Car Club by Richard Cooper
Model car racing is normally recognised by the name “Scalextric” as this brand has been making slot cars for over 50 year and most households have had or still have a set. Spain has several large companies making slot cars and there are several large clubs in the area, but 80 to 150 K away in Murcia and Almeria.
Thanks to Jose Jerez offering the use of a sotano we have moved our 5year old club under El Xacar townhouses next to the tennis court and are looking for new club members to join us.
We are now “The Cabrera Slot Car Club”.
We run electric 12 volt model car classes of Saloon, GT, and formula 1. We race both 1/32nd and 1/24th scale. Scalextric, Ninco, Carrera, NSR, Scaleauto or Slot it models would be competitive club cars. The wooden MDF track is approx. 38meters long and has 4 lanes with copper braid for the 12 volt power supply.
This is superior to plastic track and was constructed for fast racing. We use a computer for race organising and lap timing. Racing is currently on Thursdays at 4pm
